Cat Silver M C Mark on Dresser Mirror

I have a mirror marked with what looks to be a cat, the word SILVER, and the initials M C. The mirror is monogrammed with India 1944 below. I tried looking under various different countries marks but could not find anything that matched. Are these pseudo silver marks? Any information would be appreciated.
