Mark identification help - sugar tongs

Post by blueheron »

These bright cut sugar tongs have a mark of what looks like an italicized WR in a rectangle. Anyone know the maker?

Do you have a close up of the maker mark? These photos show up really small.

Hello,

See William Reynolds of Cork in the Irish Provincial marks section:

Given the design of the tongs, think they are more likely to be the work of the younger Reynolds.

Regards, Tom

Thank you so much! I obtained a large haul of Irish silver and it makes sense. Much appreciated.
