This wonderful jug is marked Dublin circa 1879 - I think it might be James Moore although you can see in the photo there are only initials J M. On the front one side is a cartouche enclosing the words "Ella from her Father" and on the other side is leg....looks to be wearing armour. Any help with this would be appreciated!!

The mark is very similar to that of James Moore but he died in 1849. The maker, I believe, is Joseph Mahony of 4, Crampton Court off Dame Street, Dublin. He was working 1847-1882.

An Ella Prudence Eyre appears on the UK 1871 Census living at a very desirable address 3, Hanover Square, London with her parents. She was born in 1864. Her father Henry, born 1827, was described as a Dealer in Art Work which is maybe how he came to have the jug.
She married Sydney Christopherson in Chertsey, Surrey in the last quarter of 1886. Living in Hastings Kent at the time of the 1891 UK Census Sydney was said to be a member of the Stock Exchange.
