I need help to identify Scottish Silver Marks

Postby scotch007 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 10:32 am

Hi to all..
I am a new user on this forum & wonder if anyone out there can help me identify these Silver marks on various spoons I have . I think a couple are early Edinburgh marks but I'm not sure..
Thanks in advance ...Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the Forum.

Yes, it looks like Edinburgh.

The maker would be Alexander Gardner, who was working 1754 (Free)-1803 (Died).

The date letter would be from the 1755-1779 sequence, but after 1759 when the 'Thistle' was introduced, it's difficult to be more precise.

Regards Trev.
