Re Pearl Handled Silver Penknife
Re Pearl Handled Silver Penknife
Hi I wonder if you can please assist me with dating a penknife that belonged to a late family member. It is a small mother-of-pearl handled penknife measuring 11cm in length when open and bears the following markings: Hallmark: a crown, lion and lower case i plus, what I guess is a maker's mark, with the letters W.M. & S inside a frame

Re: Re Pearl Handled Silver Penknife
Hi,
That appears to be William Morton & Sons, the successors to this firm: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=14790&p=129759&hil ... on#p129759
The date letter is too small to make out in your image, but appears to be from the 1920's.

Re: Re Pearl Handled Silver Penknife
Thank you very much for your kind assistance in identifying the hallmark on my silver penknife. The date letter is "i" lower case, does that help to narrow down the year?
Re: Re Pearl Handled Silver Penknife
Yes, that would be 1926.
