James Dixon candlesticks mystery mark

Can anyone identify the strange quartered square mark with dots in it - perhaps one of the dots is a triangle. It looks like it may be a manufacturers mark but on the other candlestick the same mark is on the scone, as it were a hallmark (but is rubbed). Perhaps an import mark?
Thank you

Hi,
Are there no other marks on these pieces?

The other marks on the piece are as you would expect. JD&S sponsor mark, date mark gothic n, Sheffield assay mark and sterling lion. The quartered square mark is additional to all these. Thank you

Hi,
I think it likely that they are journeyman's marks, to identify the actual workman that made the pieces.
See 'Tally Mark' at:

Thank you very much. If anyone on the forum has experience of using the James Dixon archive in Sheffield to either trace journeyman marks or design drawings I would love to hear from them-ie is that easy/feasible to do?
Thanks again
