Sugar Castor confirmation

Postby jackrabbit » Thu Dec 29, 2005 11:18 pm

Hi,

This is my first post and I wanted to confirm some information I just discovered.

I wanted to confirm that the attached Sugar Castor was made by James Deakin and Sons of Sheffield in 1896.

Thanks
Rick

HAHA! We were posting James Deakin questions at the same time. Yes, this is James Deakin & Sons Ltd (in business from 1871 utnil 1936). The crown signifies Sheffield and the left-facing, paw-raised lion is the symbol for sterling. Your gothic "d" is the date signifying 1896.
