Help on penknife [?] and Sheffield maker's mark

Postby Kamorek » Tue Dec 01, 2009 8:46 am

Hello
I`m new here, my name is Peter.
Few days ago I bought this silver penknife.
It has markings: Sheffield, made on 1901 and "AS".
This is a "Arthur Worral Staniforth"?
- but he have letters "A" and "S" as separately markings
and on my penknife(?): "A S" are jointly markings.

Could you help me on the identification of that knife?

Hello Peter,

Welcome to the forum.
A W Staniforth registered this mark with the Sheffield Assay Office in June 1890.

It is Arthur Worral Staniforth and looks to be a fruit knife.
