Unidentified chatelaine purse

Postby the_nosferatu » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:10 am

Hi,recently picked up this little chatelaine cocktail purse/bag at a boot sale for a few pounds,i have tried my best but am stumped as to how to assay it,theres no conventional marks other than the date letter and seeing as its theres no birmingham/london/sheffield/exeter/chester e.t.c marks i am confounded as to what date the letter means and indeed where it came from, a nice little piece though in tip-top condition.i would be over the moon if one of your fine sages could shed some light on this little purse.
thanks in advance. :)

This item was imported into London as we can see from the leo constellation mark; the date letter looks like 1910.

The sponsor's mark is Blanckensee & Sons Ltd.

Hope this helps.

Looks like a 'P' and in that style I would concur... it is 1910
