Please help identifying the maker of this frame

I was given this frame by my grandmother with family photo. I believe she acquired it in Barbados but I don't know that for sure. The marks are hard to read (and photograph) having a very hard time with the maker's marks, then there is the lion and what looks to me like Chester, as for the script R I can't be sure if it is 1700's or 1900's -- big difference -- I know! I hope some viewers with greater expertise can help me out. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Your frame was assayed at Chester in 1917. The maker was J & R Griffin Ltd.(Joseph James Griffin and Richard Charles Griffin), Link Works, Soho Hill, Birmingham. They went into voluntary liquidation in 1926.

Sorry Admin, I did preview, I knew the pictures didn't show but after reading the instructions repeatedly I could not figure out what to do and although I had done it correctly in the past I couldn't remember. Could you add an example to the the instructions?
