What is it???

Postby ollsher » Thu Dec 25, 2008 8:28 am

Hi guys,
Can anyone tell me what this piece is?? I'm stumped. I think the marks show it to be from Chester from 1912. Not sure about the maker though. They are bells on the side of it.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

Agree Chester 1912. It's a childs rattle, a popular Christening gift at this time. It's missing its handle cum teething stick, usually made of ivory or coral.

See: http://www.925-1000.com/registry.html for the British Registry Dates.

Thanks for that Trev. It's been in my folks dresser for forever and no-one knew what it was. Pity about the handle missing. Now I'll just have to find out who's it was!!!
