Dutch silver brandy bowl with lobed decoration and cast pierced handles showing three children, two children sitting on a mythical animal, carrying the third child in between grape vines.
Struck marks around the edge of the bowl: [4] sword between saltires in ellipse (Haarlem town mark); [3] lion rampant in plain shield, crowned (State control mark); [2] Y in cartouche= year letter 1685
The maker’s mark[1] is a tazza (shallow cup on a stemmed foot); Source; K.A. Citroen Haarlemse zilversmeden en hun merken; unknown maker active in Haarlem c. 1689-c.1718.
The year letter Y is not shown in any relevant literature about Haarlem 17th century hallmarks.
