Not sure who the maker is for this spoon but I think it is from Bolsward Friesland. The figure is also larger than I am used to, it's about 1.5" tall. The engraving looks like a marriage spoon or a birth spoon not sure.

Silver memorial spoon finial perhaps apostle St Philip with a long Latin cross and bread in his right hand. Engraved joint pair of Frisian family crests under a crown and text; Grijntje (Grientje) Sijmons Gebooren (born) Den 19 Julius (July) 1718.
Maker’s mark a 6 pointed star for Gerrit Willem Pierkens (working as a silversmith in Bolsward from 1681 to 1721; Friese Voet no. 55)
Scratched; 10527- S.p.v later added perhaps a birth date

Re: Frisian Bolsward occasin Spoon with amazing engraving
thanks, Peter, I just noticed that the other spoon has the number 10526 SPV on it in the same spot and I bought them from the same source so they were probably added by the former collector as a reference. I thought the maker might be Pierkens but it also matched the mark of an unknown maker in my old Voet book on Friesian silver. I know the reference is not up to date anymore either though.

Also I believe the figure is holding an open book (probably the bible) but it is hard to tell in my picture
Re: Frisian Bolsward occasin Spoon with amazing engraving
Yes it could be a book with the text descendit ad inferna, "he descended into hell".
Peter.
