Help to identify dutch spoon hallmark ?

Post by ETH »

Hello,

I have a Dutch spoon I think beginning of the 18th century but I cannot recognize the makers mark. Does anybody recognize this makers mark and when the spoon was made?

Erwin, Google Daniel Meyer zilveren lepel you will find your spoon, the year letter B for 1712 at Marktplaats.
It appears to be DM conjoined attributed to Daniel Meyer, active in Amsterdam 1702-1734.

Hi Peter,

I have buyed this spoon online indeed. I was checking the silversmid.

Dutch goldsmiths' and silversmiths' marks and names prior to 1812 by K. A Citroen

But in this documentation it is not mentioned that the initials are joined (this is the only documentation that I and the seller could find). I was hoping that somebody may be have documentation that clearly describes this hallmark. I have added 2 more photos:

Until we find the maker's mark described by a reliable source, the spoon remains a conversation piece or "praatlepel "

Hi Peter,

I agree, the other marks seems to match 1712. I hope somebody has a resource that describes this makers mark.

Many thanks,
Erwin
