Question about hallmark identification

Post by ETH »

Hello,

I have a old spoon. There is a makersmark on it that I think belongs to Tjerk Hilarius Franeker 1660-1681. But in my books I only see descriptions and textual information that I have added to this post. Not a real image of his makersmark. Does this makersmark indeed belongs to him?

Nice find, to me the maker's mark appears to be indeed TH conjoined for Tjerk Hilarides working in Franeker (province of Friesland) , 1660-1681. I have his mark in my files. Will get back later to confirm and perhaps with images and more details.

Above the maker’s mark on your memorial spoon with the letters J H S above Frisian family crest; half Frisian eagle, lily, device mark.

For comparison below two examples of the maker’s mark of Tjerk Hilarides, year 1662-1663, Franeker
