Help with these hallmarks please

I recently purchased a dutch silver teapot with hallmarks to the base. It has the crowned lion rampant and a possible date letter for 1872 or 1879 (not sure) but I am struggling with these other marks and the maker...

Can anyone advise please? I have also included a full image of the actual teapot.

Welcome LCWH,

Pseudo hallmarks

Makers mark LH imitation sign of Rotterdam's master Louis de Haan (page 32 - fig.195)
Lion passant with crown imitation of the Rotterdam quality mark of 1771 (page 50 - fig.402)

False silver Hallmarks in the Netherlands - K.A.Citroen

Thanks for this Dendriet, trying to source a copy of the book you referenced now.

In two minds what to do about this teapot now, return to the auction room or research more interested to find out when it was made, don't think it is a Hanau job but a later dutch work maybe?

Regards

Anthony

Hi LCWH,

As the title of the book already indicates.
Hanau has not been discussed by me either.
