Delft 17th century spoon

Postby ktiggeloven » Tue Jun 30, 2009 9:22 am

Dear forum members,

I am researching a spoon I have in my collection which I believe to be 17th century Delft. The spoon has a shape which I think is typical for 17th century silver. The marks on the back of the spoon are one mark that resembles the 17th century delft mark, A date letter G and a makers mark (which I think reads VOC or VOO in a cross). The spoon also bares both the I tax mark and the ZII tax mark, which are both tax marks for silver which reentered the trade. I hope somebody can tell me more about this spoon, and maybe its maker.
Kind regard,
kasper

Hi, all marks are mentioned in 'Valse Zilversmerken in Nederland by K.A. Citroen (Fake Silvermarks in the Netherlands): fake guild city mark of Delft, followed by fake date letter and fake masters' mark of Johannes I Cruyswech, Delft 1661

Best Oel.
