hello I am new in this forum.....I have an antique brandewijinkom (I think)
with these marks :



i can not found these marks..can you help me? I think the silver is before 1814..for the date letter
and there are another english marks (london,1903) for import (with the letter "F") I'm afraid that is a no-autentic (no-good)

They are Dutch speudo-marks of around 1900. The only aunthentic mark is the maker's mark in the square, but I can't make it out.

thank you! but there are english marks with the letter "f" for import (london 1903) and i know that was illegal(in england) import silver with pseudo marks...and the prociessing techinique is ancient..in the central partof the silver! in your opinion how old is it? ( the square mark is autentich)

Hi,

They may have been illegal, but the problem was that the people who needed to judge the authenticity of the marks were not educated in that topic as good as we are now. As said, it is from about 1900, prior to 1903.

I'm pretty sure the makers mark is that of Alle de Haas. He was active in Sneek from 1877 - 1923, and was the biggest maker of 'false' silver in the northern part of Holland. If the makers mark is that of Alle de Haas the two letters above the 1 should be AH.

There should be another mark on the brandewijnkom with a date letter, probably on the rim. With that mark you'll know the exact year it was made.

thank you I think you are right. Infact there is a date letter of 1903, in the handle, and there is "minerva's head" with the letter F, in the basis.
ALICET could you give me your opinion about another my silver that you find in the topic "FRANCE TRASH 1760 ? " in " franch silver" or in "another contries"?
