Postby overlord » Thu Dec 27, 2007 10:23 pm

Hello,

i'm new to this forum and i'm a member of a Dutch guild called St. Nicolaasgilde from Valkenswaard and i'm in the process of making a book about all our silver items.
I'm allmost finished, but there are some markings i can't seem to find.

the total picture,
Image
and these are the markings on there,
Imageand on the right, the drawings made by me.

I hope you can help me, because i'm going to the publishers very soon.

Hi,

Antwerp 1774, I don't know the maker.
Given your location that might fit. Stylistic that looks correct aswell.

There is a specialist on "gilde zilver" in Tilburg that I could get you in touch with.

Hi doos,

i'm guessing that you can understand Dutch, but then our English speaking forum-members won't be able to follow, but, yes i'm very interested in that address, so if you could give it to me (maybe thru PM or Email).
But where and how do you know it's 1774, is it because of the 74 with the little crown on the top?
And do you have the original drawing of the mark?
And if so could i have it??

Hi,

The crowned 74 stands for 1774, the crowned hand for Antwerp and the middle mark is probably the maker.
Images are similar to those picyured in "Edel smeedkunst in Belgie" - Piet Beaudouin et al. 1988.

Phone number follows in PM.
