A and J Zimmerman of Birmingham??

I'm so pleased to see this forum open at last! I found this site while it was closed and have been watching it for weeks hoping it would reopen. If I could have registered to add my support during that time I would have! What a marvellous resource!

Anyway, to business. I have a silver cigarette box that was a wedding present to my late grandparents. I have deduced from this site that it was made in Birmingham in 1921, and I suspect it was by A and J Zimmerman, however the hallmark on the box does not match the one on the website. As it is clearly a large Z with small A and J either side I thought it could only be A and J Zimmerman. Can anyone help?

I hope the image works - I'm new to this! Let me know if the hallmarks are not easily visible.

Hello Barbara, welcome to the forum.
You are correct in thinking your mark is also by A J Zimmerman Ltd. of Birmingham. This mark was entered in 1913.

Thanks Pat! Very gratifying! Perhaps this hallmark could be added to the website? I'll read about how to suggest it, but if you have any advice it's much appreciated.

This has been great fun and opened up a whole new world to me. And it's all due to the BBC's Antiques Roadshow which is currently showing every afternoon in Australia! I'm addicted! Now I'm off to check the other silver from my grandparents!
