No problem with the date - it's 1900/01. But the sponsor's mark is a mess; it appears to be an overstrike where a replacement mark has been punched on top of the original. There is nothing suspicious about this and there are several possible explanations, the most likely being that a batch of vestas was ordered from a manufacturing silversmiths and the company placing the order wanted to sell them on with their own mark. Unfortunately in this case we are left with a mainly illegible mess. There seems to be a W in the middle and possibly an H on the left. This suggests Henry Williamson Ltd, but with a very low confidence level.
