Birmingham date letter query

Post by firie000 »

The item attached is a button. I would appreciate confirmation of this maker's hallmark as Tozer, Kernsley & Fisher and member's opinion on the date letter. I or L? L (1910) falls within the date that my (very amateur) research shows this hallmark was in use (1905-12). Letter I seems way off the mark.
Any info on the company would be also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

It's definitely lower case "l" for 1910.

Hi,
Tozer, Kernsley & Fisher made jewelry and Edwardian small silver items.
Interestingly, swastika was rather common good luck charm at the time (Indian mythology) but was completely vilified, defamed as a consequence of being Nazi symbol.

Thank-you both. That's exactly the info I needed. Many thanks. The button belongs to a 94 year old lady who collects them. She will be very pleased to hear this! Thanks again!
