I received as a gift these marvellous sauce boats (10cm / 4" long ; 5,5cm / 2 1/4" high ; 4cm / 1 5/4" wide)


The little label said Birmingham 1902 which seems accurate

And made by John Hawkins ; is that correct ?
Can you tell me more about him, how reputed he is, if they still exist, etc....?

I have attributed this mark to "Joseph Hawkins (probably)" in the hope that somebody will either provide a better name or confirm my guess. My feeling is that Joseph Hawkins may be wrong as he was described as a "chain and locket maker" at 59 Albion Street, Birmingham when he registered a mark at the Chester Assay Office in 1885 (it may just be a different Joseph Hawkins of course).

I have no further information on Joseph Hawkins.

Checking on the internet, I found that Joseph Hawkins makes "Card case, mustard, napkin ring, pepperette, salt, sovereign case, vesta "
So he may well be the maker of these boats
