First Hallmark on the item

I have been trying to find out what this hallmark is as I know the anchor is for birmingham made and I know the lion is for .925 sterling. I have been unable to identify the first mark however. I believe the x is for the date of 1897-1898 would i be correct in saying this?

Can anybody help!

The maker is A & J Zimmerman Ltd (Arthur & John Zimmerman).Regent Place, Birmingham

Btw. 1897 is correct (date letter x).
The business was closed in 1929.
