Please confirm year on set of British spoons

I have a full set of these...twelve spoons in the original case. If I've interpreted the marks correctly, I believe the spoons are SS, from Birmingham, made by William Aitken.
The year confuses me, however. Based on the mark alone, I think I would have chosen the year as 1853. I'm not quite sure what to make of the information noted with the makers on the Birmingham page, though. Next to William Aitken, I chose this since the WA looks the same as the one on the spoons to my eye, there is a note that reads: 1st qtr 20th C. There's no upper case E between 1900-1925, though.
Where have I gone wrong?
And how do you photograph the back of a spoon without getting the camera in the picture?

Hi there. I'm not entirely sure about the maker, William Aitken, however I can tell you that this date letter is that of 1929. If the spoons were made in 1853 the 'E' would have a different shield shape, there would also probably be a Queen Victoria duty stamp along side the other hallmarks.

William Adams might also be a possibility for the maker.

The date is most definitely 1929, for the reasons that Clare stated, and also hallmarking on the bowls of teaspoons only came about in the early 20th century. The style of the spoon is of course another indicator.
