Dunhill cigarette holder marks

Postby panatha » Fri Mar 25, 2016 3:33 am

Is this A mark for Alfred Dunhill? And what year is the Y?
What means the single marks?
Thank you for your answers.

Hi,
Yes, I believe so AD in a lozenge. See Alfred Dunhill & Sons:
http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Make ... AH.html#AD

The year letter Y for 1948
Not sure about the stand alone mark, to me looks like a "mis- struck" British lion passant.

Best,

Oel.

Thanks Oel.
I think you are right about the mis-struck.
