toothpick, B'ham mark

I don't recognise the date letter - the cursive upper case G - and can't make out the maker's initials either. Any ideas please?

Maker's mark; P G Lt, dates seen 1973..1977, silver items; cigar cutter, decanter label. Your date letter g for:1981

This is a Birmingham mark so you would need to contact the Birmingham Assay Office (contact links at http://assayofficebirmingham.com/). Although, interestingly, there is an apparently identical London maker's mark.

The BAO are now charging a massive £15 for simple hallmark identification with the warning: "complicated and/or unusual items may attract an additional charge"

Their early maker's marks database is still available for free, however they describe it somewhat ominously as "currently searchable".
