Help in identifying this piece.

Postby wlfuller » Mon Nov 11, 2013 9:10 am

Picked this piece up at a yard sale and so far have determined that it was made by Evans & Co in Birmingham 1909. Would like to confirm the markings as noted in the picture below. Also does anyone know what this piece is called. Thank You, Wanda

Hi Wanda,

I agree with your findings, Evans & Co., Birmingham, 1909.

Although this piece was assayed at Birmingham, and perhaps made there, Evans & Co. were a London company owned by Alexander Maxwell Butel. They were in business until 1923.

I would describe the piece as a 'Tazza'.

Thank you Trev for the information. It's amazing what you can find at yard sales for just a quarter. Have a great day.
