L&R maker?

Postby rhodrit » Thu Sep 05, 2013 1:12 pm

Hi all,
I have this spoon wondering if anyone could help with the maker and any info about them?

It is dated 1805 - 1806 and has the usual early Birmingham (charming) crudeness.

Thanks
Rhodri

Hello Rhodri

The subject has appeared previously in the Forum with unfortunate results under the title "Early Birmingham Maker L&R" .
See viewtopic.php?f=49&t=17263&p=39121&hilit=ledsam+rudder#p39121

Very Interesting thank you Mike its certainly the same mark and a very similar spoon.
I must say unlike in Miles' Case all the marks look very clear and sharp/detailed. There is certainly no indication that the L&R is 'overstamping' anything.
I may contact the BAO but a little worried what they would do as we know it's not in there records...

Whatever you decide to do Rhodri can I suggest you don't let the spoon get anywhere near Birmingham.
If there are developments please be sure to let us know.

Regards,
Mike
