Silver Pill Box Maker? Kissing Monkey?

Postby zzzing » Sat Jan 28, 2006 3:24 pm

Hello, I recently purchased this locket/pill box. I believe the hallmarks stand for Birmingham 1925. What I don't know is what the mark above those marks means. It looks like ALL2 or ALL followed by a kissing monkey. Can anyone identify this maker for me? Thank you

The maker's mark is ALL followed by a superscript capital D with a full stop (period) beneath it. The maker is Adie & Lovekin Limited and the date letter is 1925 as you surmised.

Thank you Gerryl, that certainly makes more sense than a very tiny profile of a kissing monkey.
