help for identifying maker's mark BP & C

Postby frenchie_myriam » Sun Oct 23, 2005 1:58 pm

Hello All,

I hope you are not fed up watching inkwells. Here is another one which has been assayed in Birmingham in 1919 and once again I am stuck with the markers mark.

It is crest shaped and letters are on 2 lines 1st one shows BP 2nd shows &C

Thanks for your help in identifying precisely my inkwell collections.

Have a great day Myriam

Have another good look at the hallmark. I think the initials in the shield will be BP on the first line and DC on the second. They are for Boots Pure Drug Co Ltd. They traded as silversmiths at Station Street in Nottingham. Their director was Albert Thompson. Refer - The Compendium of Chester Gold & Silver marks 1570-1962 p.68
