Help with date and mark on Birmingham sterling bookmark

I'm having a problem identifying the maker D&LS, and I am also unsure of the date. The font for character n tells me 1887 but the shape of the shield is not right.

Looks like the maker is David and Lionel Spiers, and 1887 the year.
