Help needed with partial hallmark on Rare Silver Vase

Postby nmdc114 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 5:20 pm

Hi everyone,

I wonder if any of you can help me to identify who the maker of this small silver vase is? The style of the vase is very similar to those produced by Liberty & Co at the turn of the century. It is only small in size measuring just 10.5cms in height and I love it! I am going to have it repaired (all the dents removed) and would just like to know more about it. Sorry about the quality of the pics but my camera is playing up.

Thanks Nigel.

Hi Nigel

Can you describe the makers or town mark, it appears to be the 1902 date mark for London, this would be spot on for Liberty as in 1901 they formed Liberty & Co (Crymic) Ltd, when such artists as Knox, Silver and Cuzner were used.

The Makers mark though sadly does not appear to be Libertys as l cannot make out a small Y above the L and there is more writing after it.

But the date letter also could be Birmongham 1906, it is not easy to see.

Regards

Nigel

Hi there, the hallmark is for birmingham 1906. I am just totally lost with regards to any possible makers.

Cheers, Nigel

Is this a vase or could it be a candlestick ?
