Please help me identify this Kiddush Cup

Postby shmuts » Sun Nov 11, 2007 4:37 pm

I recently rescued this Kiddush Cup from an antique store but I cannot identify it's origin based on the markings.

It appears to be a British Hallmark but it is not listed in the database -- I hope it's not a fake hallmark, what you have in the glossary as a Pseudo Mark.

Please help me identify it -- any information would be helpful. Thank You.

Hi,

No, it's not a fake hallmark, it's assayed in Birmingham in 1911, sorry I can't help with the maker.

Regards Trev.

Greetings Trev,

Thank you for identifying the city -- glad to hear it is not fake.

I will keep looking and hoping, now that I know it is from Birmingham.

Thank You, isaac

Hi Issac,

I tried searching the Birmingham Assay Database, with no luck. How do you read the letters in the makers mark?

Regards Trev.

Apologies for mis-spelling your name.

Greetings once more Trev,

Absolutely no apology needed for miss-spelling my first name -- happens all the time, don't know why?

Thank you very much for looking further into the makers-mark; I read the mark as -- RT&C --.

Again, Thank You -- Best Regards, isaac

Isaac
Are you sure it is not RT&Co with the o lined up with the top of the C
There is an unattributed mark for this with similar punch outline and period.
