Wine ewer

This is an 1869 11" wine ewer, probably made for church use judging by the writing on the central band.
I'd like to know the maker.
I think it has two pairs of initials: the top one is obscured and the bottom one is EC or EO. Could it be Cox and Sons?

Hi Miles,
I think it has to be Thomas and Edward Cox, Belize Road, Lambeth. Although, whether they actually made it is a different matter, they seem to be a general ecclesiastical supplier, so they might have employed silversmiths or maybe overstamped the work of others.
In 1870 they took over the silversmithing business of John James Keith, taking on Keith and all his workers, so it is possible that Keith is the maker.
Is there any evidence of overstamping?

I don't think so Trev, but it is very worn.

Hi,
This reply has nothing to do with solving the puzzle, but the quadrofoils in the handle are good examples of the neo-gothic style used in the late 1800's.
Great and typical ewer.

Thankyou Doos; I appreciate comments on style just as much as I do hallmarks, on which it's sometimes possible to get a little too focused.
There are a some other neo-gothic features better seen in these photos.
