Could Someone Identify The Maker Please

Postby paulandberyl » Wed Mar 21, 2007 10:42 am

Please could someone identify the maker of this desert spoon. I believe it is London 1771 but I cannot identify the maker at all. I thought that they had to use initials?
Thanks for you help. Image

Could you post a clearer picture of the hallmarks or tell us what the initials are?

Hi,
The mark on the left will contain letters, maybe not clear, but they are there. Without knowing what they are, it is impossible to identify the maker.

Is it perhaps William Turner? His mark has been burnt into my memory.

Hi Miles
Many thanks for your reply. I am not sure as I really cannot see, even with a magnifying glass, any marks at all. I have six spoons and all have the same mark.

Thanks once again

Don't do this on all your spoons, or regularly, but get a cotton bud and some polish and gently poke around in the mark, then wet the other end and clean the polish out. You should be able to read the mark after this.
