Can anyone ID the makers of this vinaigrette box (I·A over ?·B)? London 1802, I think. The engraved pattern is a bit unusual - looks like a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces or a whacky mappa mundi. The grille's nice though.
Hi Carling, A bit more information, their workshops were at 16, Bridgewater Gardens, London. John Allen IV was illiterate his entry mark was signed with a X, Regards Trev. .
Bit of additional information for you...I have a collection of six vinaigrettes but none with a 'Criss-cross/Wrigglework' pattern as yours has. Yours is a particularly nice example from London 1802 with an individually styled grille.......good stuff!! Best wishes, Mike. .
