Silver Napkin Ring from London

Postby Phil Robinson » Thu Mar 01, 2007 1:14 pm

The makers mark on this napkin ring London WC & JL seems to be first quarter of 20th. century but the date mark Q does not agree.

Any help appreciated

Hi Phil,
The Makers mark appears to be that of William Gibson and John Langman who later went on to become Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Ltd, and the date mark of 1891, but this does seem a strange grouping and the marks a little crude and I wonder if they are pseudo marks, I'm sure other opinions will be offered,
Regards Trev.

Phil

Trev is correct with the makers, this is their third mark entered in 1890, which does match the date stamp, however l must admit the marks do look a bit strange, especially the "Lion"
