I am trying to identify this British sterling mark on this sterling repousse bowl. I believe it is London, but cannot determine what the L stands for. I also believe the woman's profile means it is from 1838-1890? I cannot find what the initials W.C. stand for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, Your bowl has been assayed in London in 1886 (the date letter L corresponds to this year). The makers mark is probably an early mark of William Comyns.
