Georgian Tea Tongs - Single mark for Identification

Post by SimonJersey »

Good morning,

What are people's thoughts on the date of these Tea Tongs, the mark shown and where they might be made? (c.1760, London, Colonial or Provincial?) I was attracted to them because of the unusual shape of the finger rings.

There is a contemporary family initial engraving of "D" on the central hinge:

This is the only mark present (is it a badly struck Lion Passant, or a makers mark), There are no further marks in the bowls or on the finger rings.

Many thanks
