This top is on a Samuel Welder caster assayed for London 1736, to my annoyance l did not look carefully enough although l must admit it is a good marriage, try as l have, l cannot find the maker of the top section, could anybody help please ?
l am hoping for the same period.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi,
There seems to be no British maker whose initials start with N in the mark of this shape.
But try upside down;there are several candidates, although cannot tell the first letter for sure (JN,TN...)

Thank you very much for the idea of turning it around, in fact l think it is T M, if you look at Grimwades 2846, Thomas Mason (1746) mark the M looks like a N with the last stroke of the M very fancy, also the conjoined first stroke of the M is curled around the T and l think the T has folded over time, maybe l could be wrong, but it does seem to be very very close, l know it is English as next to the mark which is not clearly shown is the Lion Passant.
Once again thanks

Definitively Lion passant and the style of the mark matches mid 18th century;meaning if marriage,it is a perfect one.
