Fork date and maker

Post by juantotree »

Hi

I have this three pronged fork with a makers mark of I.I possibly James Jennings or Joshua Jackson. The date letter is somewhat rubbed, could anybody hazard a guess at the maker and date?

Many Thanks
Martin

It's always worth looking at these sort of marks the other way round; doing so, I see I·L for John Lambe and with the date letter "b" for 1777/78. With marks like these there is always some room for doubt but that's certainly where my money would be.

Thanks Phil, I think you could be right, most appreciated.
