George III Milk Jug

Hi all,

What does everyone think of this milk jug ?

It is hallmarked in a rather unusual place ( edge of the base ), the cast feet appear to be poorly applied and the marks also look rather stretched and let in from another object.

Is it a conversion?

It's not George III but George IV as the hallmarks are for London 1828. The somewhat gaudy style is appropriate for the rococo revival during the reign of George IV (first as a prince regent and the as a king). Unfortunately it's not possible to know the maker as only "W" can be seen. But at least when it comes to the style it's appropriate for the date. Of course it's possible that the item was later repaired or somehow altered or just originally poorly made.
