I was asking for info on a mustard pot London maker's name J E, you asked me to let you see a picture of the actual pot

This morning when I tried to log in I couldn't and the thread has been deleted, seems it broke the rules.

I've had to register again to see if there were any more posts on the subject.

So where did we get to, You suggested John Emes, I've done some searching for him and it appears he died in 1808 so unless the business mark was carried on by a son it's not likely to be him.

His wife kept the business going with a partner but seemingly with the partners name and mark.

I'll add the pics here again to try to abide by the rules:

Yes, sorry about that Eric. I had a picture of a JE mark from 1856 like yours in my files and it was named John Emes (don't know why). Once I actually looked in Grimwade's, it was obvious the maker is most probably John Evans II who started working in 1834. 2209Patrick also suggested this maker before the thread was deleted.

You asked me what I thought of the pot: It's not really the style I like, but the piercing work is nice.To have the original liner is quite rare.

Here is a similar one by a different maker:

Thanks for your response Miles, looking at the one in your link you could almost believe it was made, or at least designed by the same person although it's quite a bit shorter than the one I have, 2.5" as against 4" tall. Eric.

I've had a wander round the Bexfield website and there is on there an item with the exact same J E mark attributed to John Evans II 1848, so that about clinches it for me, Thanks for your time and help, Eric.
