Silver Dish Hallmarks

Postby gary white » Tue Sep 05, 2006 8:24 pm

Dear Forum,

I was given this small siver dish as a gift and I am trying to determine it's origins. With no experience I have been able to determine it is sterling silver from the Lion Passant and the Date Letter seems to be 1891? I can't identify the Markers Mark, it looks like a WO or WC and I have no idea what the 4th symbol represents. Can anyone please advise.

Can't see the mark very well, but it might be one used by William Comyns & Sons Ltd.

Just would like to applaud the administration for adding these British Makers Marks to the site. That's a big project, but I'm sure our friennds across the Atlantic will be very helpful. Keep up the good work.
