Opinion on this maker

Postby juantotree » Tue Mar 28, 2017 6:28 am

Hi,

This 1763 apostle spoon is clearly hallmarked with the makers mark in the image below. The only candidate I can find is that of Tompson Davis, however I have never seen any of his work before and there doesn't appear to be any examples of his work on this site, what do others think?

Davis's registration was as a largeworker which is a bit of a contra-indication, but doesn't rule him out. Grimwade also illustrates a script TD mark for Thomas Dealtry, although he was registered as a haftmaker and hiltmaker 28.10.1765.

It would be useful to see the full hallmark.
