Hi,

Can anybody help me decipher the makers mark on this 1739 London spoon?

Many Thanks

My best guess is John Gamon, Grimwade mark number 1348, registered 15 June 1739.

Or maybe Edward Bennett I? Grimwade No. 544

As a known spoonmaker, Bennett was my first thought as a possibility.

Yes, Bennett is much more likely - I'd convinced myself that the mark was the other way up.

Hi,
The initial definitively looks like ``EB`` in English Gothic font (other letters being eliminated).

The first letter of the maker's mark looks like a "G" to me.

Thanks for the observations everybody. I can see a case for the first letter being an E or a G.
