Salt dish with hinged lid - American? Can't ID marks!

Postby JN&HT » Sun Aug 13, 2006 7:21 pm

We've looked through as many guides for marks as we can find but can't find these marks! Any help in identifying these would be great. We think the dish is either American or British, but are not sure.

Thanks!

PS: Sorry the pictures are not better formatted. We did our best!

You did a great job on the pictures.
Those are English sterling silver marks.

#1) Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd., London England. I read the date mark "A" as 1916.

The other set of marks that disappeared were for Adie Brothers Ltd., Birmingham, England. Didn't get a chance to check the date mark.

Correct and the item is a mustard pot which should have a blue glass liner. Best wishes, Mike.

Thanks to both Mike and Pat. We do have the blue glass insert. It's interesting that the spoon is not the original.
