Need Help Identifying This Sterling Tea Pot

Post by btalarczyk »

I came across this tea pot in the attic of an old abandoned house. I did my research on your fantastic website but I could not find anything on the maker of the piece and I was having trouble figuring out the date also.

This item looks like it was made in London and that it is sterling silver but I can't identify the "Duty Mark" and I'm not exactly sure which year the "A" is supposed to correspond to (1896, 1816, or 1776)

Also, I found nothing in the Makers section for the maker hallmark which appears to be "IEEE"

One other strange issue is the last picture below. On the side of the pot there is a marking that looks like a man falling backwards with a ship's anchor going through his head. Does anyone know what that's supposed to be?

Can anyone help in identifying this item?

The maker is John & Edward Edwards (John Edwards III & his son)

Hallmarked for London, date letter a for 1816

Forgot to add the last picture is a family crest, it is a bent arm holding an anchor.

Fairbairn has the crest as that of the Maton family, but not much other info to add
