Hello everyone!

I have come into possession of three silver spoons (different sizes), one of which (the smallest, a dessert spoon) I have been able to identify as Birmingham, 1850.

These two however, I have had less luck with. The medium sized spoon (first photos - 17 cm), has clear marks, but I am not sure if the date letter corresponds to 1809 or 1789. It is from London, the maker's mark TB, with an interesting "dot" to the left outside of the cartouche.

The larger spoon (20 cm - what kind of spoon would this be?), I think, is older (judging from the design). The marks, unfortunately, have been almost lost (I can only clearly make out the Lion passant and Geroge III tax marks). You can still see where the other marks were, and the mark on the very left (next to George III) looks to be the date stamp in the 1756-1775 style (?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated in further identifying these spoons.

Oops, have just realised that this particular George tax mark was used only after 1786 which rules out the 1756-1775 date marks! My bad.

This is 1809. For larger spoons, starting with the K of 1805, the marks were applied in a vertical sequence. In 1789 they would have been in a horizontal sequence. TB is Thomas Wilkes Barker.

And I apologise for posting two items in one post...I shall create a new post for the other spoon, which, judging from what you said, would be pre 1805? (marks are horizontal).
